Đurić Meets with India’s Minister of Parliamentary and Minority Affairs
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Serbia Marko Đurić met today, on the margins of the High-Level Commemorative Meeting marking the 65th anniversary of the First Conference of Heads of State or Government of Non-Aligned Countries, with Minister of Parliamentary Affairs and Minority Affairs of the Republic of India Kiren Rijiju.
Welcoming his interlocutor to the gathering in Belgrade, Đurić expressed his satisfaction that India, as one of the founding countries of the Non-Aligned Movement, will make a significant contribution to the meeting and to reaffirming the contemporary relevance of the principles of non-alignment.
The interlocutors reflected on the traditional friendship between the two countries and the visit of President of India Droupadi Murmu to Belgrade in 2023, on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Emphasising that this was the first visit by an Indian President to Belgrade in half a century and that it gave fresh impetus to political dialogue at all levels, Minister Đurić reiterated the invitation extended by President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić to Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi and also invited his counterpart, Minister of External Affairs Subrahmanyam Jaishankar, to visit Serbia.
Đurić expressed his gratitude for India’s support for the preservation of Serbia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for its support within international organisations.
The Serbian Foreign Minister noted that relations between Serbia and India are also developing in the economic sphere. In addition to cooperation in trade and investment, he particularly highlighted the potential for cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital technologies, which was discussed at the AI Impact Summit held in New Delhi in February this year and attended by President of the Republic of Serbia Aleksandar Vučić.
Đurić expressed particular satisfaction that India will showcase its rich cultural heritage and economic potential at the specialised Expo 2027 exhibition in Belgrade.
